Cachexia or Wasting Syndrome

Disease featuring hypoglycemia (low blood sodium levels) and dehydration in response to disease processes in or surrounding the brain. Cachexia or wasting syndrome can cause weakness of muscles, loss of weight, fatigue, significant loss of appetite in anyone, even those who are not trying to lose weight. The actually definition of cachexia is the loss of one’s body mass which cannot be helped with nutrition. Whether it would be to eat more calories or not the main body mass of one will be lost. This syndrome is usually found in patients with any history or cancer, AIDS, chronic obstructive lung disease, congestive heart failure, tuberculosis or familial amyloid polyneuropathy. Most patients with cachexia have a much high risk factor for death meaning if one has cachexia and one of the previously listed diseases, the chance of death is much more likely. If a patient has no sign or previous history of cancer, AIDS, chronic obstructive lung disease, congestive heart failure, tuberculosis or familial amyloid polyneuropathy but are diagnosed with cachexia, one may want to make sure the patient does not have one of those diseases.
